Today, I’d like to talk to you about the first “sweet” benefit I see in having struggles.
Ever seen a butterfly break out of its chrysalis?
Ever see a toddler start to try to take his or her first steps?
Ever see a child start learning how to ride a bike?
Ever see someone try to learn a new, difficult habit?
Something all of these images have in common is struggle!
For the butterfly, it pumps its wings with fluid so they get stronger and it can break free.
The butterfly will not break through without a struggle.
For the toddler, he or she will fall down many, many times as he or she learns to walk.
The toddler will not learn to walk without a struggle.
For the child, he or she will fumble learning how to balance and use pedals on a bike.
The child will not learn to ride a bike without a struggle.
A person learning a new, difficult habit may fail quite a few times before learning that habit.
The person will not learn that habit without a struggle.
Notice that these are all struggles that represent an opportunity to learn and grow in some way, shape, or form!
More importantly…
When you think about your struggles, how do YOU see them?
Do you see them as a nuisance, making you want to crawl under a rock and hide? (I don’t blame you if you feel that way –> I’ve felt that way and still feel that way sometimes :)
OR, do you see them as opportunities for you to grow in some way, whether spiritually, emotionally, or physically?
Let’s see the SWEET SIDES of struggles so we can THRIVE in life!
